New Year’s Resolutions for 2025

Happy New Year, everyone!

I want to tell you some of my New Year’s resolutions for 2025.

Practicing my English listening and speaking is still one of them. My goal is to express myself confidently and fluently, with fewer mistakes. Last year, I tried to spend half an hour here and 15 minutes on Duolingo every day. Furthermore, I also participated in group chat lessons in Cambly for an hour every week.

All of the things I listed will be continued in 2025, but I plan to focus on two aspects when I post entries here because I found that some recurring topics made me feel bored and maybe you feel the same way too. Thus, I’m going to write about something useful for correctors, especially the ones learning Chinese. This is one aspect. The other one is continuously telling you about my hiking stories with my spoken English – I’m a little worried about this because I’m afraid I might take up too much of your time or bore you. I’ll try my best not to make it too boring.

My second resolution concerns exercise. In 2024, my exercise goal was to conquer hypothyroidism. So now in 2025, I want to get my weight back to pre-COVID levels. Weight gain is a common symptom of an underactive thyroid. In the latter half of 2024, I managed to control my weight, but I still did not return to my pre-COVID state. I will try to run three times a week.

The third resolution I want to tell you about is reading. I usually use an app to listen to audiobooks. It’s quite convenient and friendly to my eyes, and I finished a book very quickly, but I found that I got less from the books. I will try to make notes after finishing a book on the app. At the pace I’m going, I can take 24 reading notes in 2025.

……

It’s quite late now. That’s all for today.

Have a great 2025!
